If you’re anything like me – and I suspect you might be, if you’re reading this – your home will be full of dog-related trinkets. Portraits of your beloved pooch, photographs, doggy mugs, biscuit tins and ornaments… even Christmas decorations.
One thing you probably don’t have, however, is your very own stained glass version of your dog. And when I first saw Carol Hicks’ handiwork, I just knew I had to have one.
Carol, who has lived in Cornwall her whole life, started working with stained glass around eight years ago. Her first piece was a kingfisher on an oak base and when that went down well, she started selling at West Country craft fairs.
All pieces are made in Carol’s home workshop, near Saltash, and she is happy to take on commissions. She loves designing animal pieces – especially dogs – and has a particular passion for Border Collies.
To get started, all Carol needs are a few photos of your dog, face-on. She sends regular pictures and updates throughout the creative process too, so you can see how your piece is coming along.
Bespoke dog pieces start from £25 for a simple head measuring approximately 4.5in and range to £120 for hanging panels. Postage costs extra. For further examples of Carol’s work or to discuss a commission, see her pages on Facebook on Instagram.

If you’re wondering about the business name, by the way, ‘Tewes’ is Cornish for sand and ‘Mor’ means sea. Plus, it sounds like ‘Choose More Glass’ – which Carol is very much in favour of!
