This three-bedroom end-of-terrace home in the heart of Whitstable is ideal for group stays and families. It is just moments from the bustling High Street and waterfront, and two parking spaces are provided, which is a real bonus. York House is managed by Whitstable Seaside.
How dog-friendly is York House?
Good. No special provisions are provided so you’ll need to bring your own beds, bowls and food but dogs are generally welcome here. There is also a lovely secure garden. No additional charges apply for pets to stay.
Tell me more about York House
This light and airy three-bedroom property epitomises coastal chic. It’s a bit like a Tardis inside, with a large ground floor extension housing an open-plan kitchen and dining area, complete with cosy woodburner. This leads out into a secure garden via a set of bifold doors and downstairs, you’ll also find a separate lounge and bathroom, with a huge shower cubicle and complimentary toiletries.
On the first floor are three spacious double bedrooms plus a second bathroom, with luxurious standalone tub. All of the bedrooms have lots of storage and the middle room has a cupboard packed with board games to entertain guests on rainy days. The house also has handy additions like a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board, as well as those aforementioned off-street parking spaces – which are like gold dust in Whitstable!
What’s the food like at York House?
This is a self-catering property so you’ll need to bring your own, but many essentials – such as tea, coffee and condiments – are provided. The kitchen is very well-equipped too, with plenty of pots, pans and crockery. There is also a dishwasher to make tidying up a breeze. During our stay, our group of six managed to cook up a delicious tapas feast – and while the oven could have been a bit bigger and more modern, we had everything we needed.
There are a whole host of bars, cafes and restaurants in Whitstable though so it would be a shame not to eat out at least once! The town is famed for its fresh seafood and oysters and one of the best places to sample some is at no-frills seafront shack, The Forge. Dogs are welcome in many of the pubs in town, including the Royal Naval Reserve and The Sea Farmer’s Dive Taproom, as well as retro vegan cafe, Revival.

No, but you’re sure to meet plenty of local pooches when out and about.
Where are the best dog walks near York House?
The house is just moments from the High Street and Whitstable’s charming seafront, which is peppered with seafood shacks and cute cafes and bars. It’s lovely to stroll along the seafront at any time of year and you can follow the coastal path to neighbouring Herne Bay, around five miles away, in approximately two hours.
Whitstable also marks the start of the Crab & Winkle Way – a 7.5-mile traffic-free route that follows an old railway line to Canterbury. You may still want to keep your dog on lead for the duration though as the path is home to lots of squirrels!
