What’s Lobster Cottage like?
This stylish period cottage is sandwiched between Lytham’s bustling main road and beautiful Lytham Green. The two-bedroom property sleeps four and local owners Charlotte and Lauchlan are always on hand, should you need anything. Blackpool is approximately a 20-minute drive from Lobster Cottage, which is part of the Coastal Places portfolio.
How dog-friendly is Lobster Cottage?
Very good. Dogs are welcome here and a selection of bowls are provided for them, as well as throws for the sofa. The enclosed yard at the back of the cottage is handy for early morning and late night ablutions, too. There’s an additional charge of £15 per pet for dogs to stay.

Tell me more about Lobster Cottage
This stylish two-bedroom cottage has a cute coastal vibe and lots of little nods to lobsters in everything from the towels to the wall art. All of the rooms are light and airy and smell gorgeous, thanks to the diffusers dotted around. They also feel very spacious – which is good, as they boast some of the largest lampshades I’ve ever seen! The lounge has a comfy sofa and armchairs, plus a feature fireplace and books and games for rainy days.
The lounge leads into a roomy kitchen with cool checkerboard floor (keep reading to find out more), then a secure yard with garden furniture. And upstairs, you’ll find two spacious bedrooms – one double and one twin – both of which come with luxurious bedding and cosy blankets to snuggle up under. The bathroom, at the front of the house, is also great and has a lovely powerful shower.
If you need some inspiration for things to do, Charlotte and Lauchlan have put together a handy pack of information and recommendations for the local area, which we found really helpful. We barely needed our car during our stay as most of the places we visited were close by, but be aware that parking can be a bit of a challenge. There is no allocated space for the cottage, but it’s free to park on the surrounding streets.

What’s the food like at Lobster Cottage?
This is a self-catering property so you’ll need to bring your own, but a few essentials – like tea, coffee and condiments – are provided. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm, plus a dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine. There is even a larder cupboard! There are so many places to eat and drink nearby though, that it would be a shame not to make the most of them.
At the end of the road is Whelan’s Fish and Chips, which comes recommended by Gordon Ramsay and Rick Stein. Not only is it great for takeaways but it also has outdoor seating – and dogs are allowed in the restaurant, too. Bijou of Lytham is also pet-friendly as is The Queen’s Hotel and Pizza Rana and most of the local pubs welcome dogs, too. All are within easy walking distance of Lobster Cottage.
Are there resident dogs at Lobster Cottage?
No, but you will definitely meet plenty when you’re out walking. Almost everyone in Lytham seems to have a dog!

Where are the best dog walks near Lobster Cottage?
Lytham Green, with its famous white windmill, is just moments from the cottage and is large enough to let dogs run free. Ernie and Stan loved wandering down to the waterfront, where the Irish Sea meets the Ribble Estuary, every morning. And from Lytham Green, you can follow the coast path to Fairhaven Lake, where you can take a boat trip, go birdwatching or enjoy a cuppa in the dog-friendly Lakeside Cafe. It takes around 45 minutes to walk up to the lake.
Grade I listed Lytham Hall also makes for a fantastic place to visit with dogs. The Georgian house has almost 80 acres of parkland to explore and pets can even go off-lead in certain areas. While dogs are not allowed inside the main house, they are welcome in the tea room (very important!) and garden hub. Find out more about where dogs can go here. You can walk to Lytham Hall from Lobster Cottage in around 30 minutes.
